Tick-Tactics: Preventing Tick-Borne Diseases

Lurking within the foliage of many forests and grasslands are predators of different shapes and sizes. One of the smallest and most common predators here in our natural areas can cause big issues. Ticks are blood-feeding parasitic arachnids that are active in Michigan from early May-November and are known to carry 15 different pathogens that can spread through their bite.

All About the Birds and the Bees: Pollinator-Aware Yard Care

The Resolution to Support Pollinator Habitat in Ann Arbor (Resolution R-23-111) was passed by the Ann Arbor City Council in April of 2023. A major aspect of this resolution was the development of the Pollinator-Aware Yard Care Program, which provides homeowners with information on how they can maintain their lawns to provide habitat and resources for local pollinators.
